Direct payment: See if your bank offers a “BillPay” option. You can set up the church as a regular payment they make, and the bank generates an electronic check and sends it via USPS (United States Postal Service).  Some banks don’t charge for this and may even cover the postage!

A sophisticated donor knows the importance of simple planning. The IRA Charitable Rollover gift can be a simple act with sophisticated results. The IRA Rollover is federal legislation that allows you to donate up to $100,000 to a qualified charity without a tax penalty when given directly  from your individual retirement account (IRA) if you are at least age 70 ½ and taking minimum IRA distributions. It is possible to turn your IRA into a charitable donation free from tax and in turn allow you to give more at less cost. Here is an example: if you donate (rollover) $10,000 directly from your IRA to a qualified charity (your church), you avoid having to pay tax on the $10,000.00. Your tax savings varies depending on your tax bracket. Again, allowing you to give more at less cost.
